WEEKLY REVIEW
The Football and Netball season is just around the corner. Many hours are spent by our off field team organising everything for the season - we have just upgraded our bar facilities with a new bar top and cupboards, as well as new floor tiles which look great. Thank you to everyone that helped out.
The membership drive has started with Michelle and Glen Hill working very hard. Becoming a member of this great club gives members many benefits and also helps your club. Please contact us via our email address jervoisfc(at)sanflcfl.com.au and we can send you all the membership details.
Our sponsorship team of Julie Fox and Sonya Cobbledick have also been very busy. Sponsorship by local businesses is a vital part of the clubs’ survival and we value your sponsorship and thank you. Sponsorship helps us maintain our facilities and provides our kids the best atmosphere and equipment to get them out on the field. We encourage our members, supporters and players to support those that support us, so we hope it benefits your business as well. If you would like to find out more please contact us via our email address or contact one of our committee members.
The handbook is well underway, but takes many hours to put together. Sal Kluske works hard putting the junior part of it together, organising rosters, team lists etc. Many volunteers are needed to run the club during the week and also on a Saturday. Boundary umpires, scoreboard attendants, interchange stewards and goal umpires are just some of the jobs needed to fill during the year. Please help us fill these jobs and once again, if you can help out in any way, please contact us.
Our canteen committee do a wonderful job every year, it takes approximately 25 volunteers to run the canteen on a home game, so as you can see many volunteers are needed here as well. We also run the canteen on Thursday nights, providing our players and supporters with a great meal - approximately 12 volunteers are needed on these nights. If you can help out, please let us know.
The grounds committee keep doing an exceptional job maintaining our oval. With the recent retiring of Les Burdett I heard the South Australian Cricket Board have approached the second best grounds committee in South Australia. But we know where their hearts lie and it’s at home in Jervois. The guys have put out a call for anyone that has any white paint at home that they don’t need, they could use it to mark our oval, so please if you have any drop it off at the club. Thanks guys keep up the good work - our players and community appreciate your dedication.
The Junior AGM was held on Monday the 8th of February. Once again Team Kluske head the group, with Sam becoming our Junior President again and Sal the Junior Secretary. Sam and Sal have done this for quite a few years now and do an exceptional job, thanks guys. Junior training starts on February the 25th at 6.30pm. Once again we will be providing the bus to bring our kids out to training. The bus leaves Pine Park at 4.30pm, then picks up at the Mobil service station on Swanport Road, as well as kids along the way to Jervois. After training it brings our kids home arriving back at Pine Park at 7.10pm. The major change to our junior grades this year is the change of age brackets. The Under 12’s competition this year will be Under 13’s and the Under 10 competition now becomes Under 11’s. This change means that the grades are now an even 2 year gap between them. All new players are welcome so kids, bring your mates out to Jervois.
Senior training is well underway and the guys are working hard on the training track, the enthusiasm and commitment is fantastic. The first month of training has seen a vast improvement in fitness and ball skills. A team plan is well underway which will give the spectators some exciting football to watch. We thank the cricket club for their hospitality as they have been providing us with tea on a Thursday night.
A trial game has been organised for the 27th of March against Onkaparinga on their home ground. While in the Adelaide Hills, we have organised tea at the Oakbank Hotel, now proudly owned by Ringer and Matt Heading. Please come along and support the guys - they put on a fantastic meal and the beer is always cold.
We look forward to seeing you at the football with our first game being against Ramblers on the 10th of April on their home ground. Once again if you are able to volunteer your time in helping us out with the many jobs required to run your club, please contact us.

COACHES PRE SEASON REVIEW
Training for the 2010 season started on January 6th at Murray Bridge High School and expectations and team rules were explained to the playing group. The Group have been fantastic in accepting the new rules and the way we will play the game in 2010.
The players have been training for 6 weeks now and have shown a real improvement in fitness and skills which is a real credit to them. They are showing a real commitment to the Club and each other.
To the players who haven’t been to training, consider this: It is very hard to teach the way we will play in 2010 if you are at home, sitting on the lounge when your team mates are working hard on the training track.!!
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Kym Bloffwitch (B Grade Coach) and Peter Growden (Fitness/Rehabilitation Coach) to our great club and wish them all the best for the 2010 season.
To all of our members and supporters, I extend an invitation to please come to training and support our players. Trainings are:
Mondays – Adelaide Uni
Tuesdays – Murray Bridge High School
Thursdays – Jervois Football Club.
All trainings start at 6.30pm sharp!
GO BLUDS!!
